Cut from our new assortment of fresh aromatic red cedar from east texas, each piece (rough sawn) measures approximately 13" in diameter at the widest and 2" in thickness. These are left completely natural and are not sanded or finished, except to smooth out the rough edges from the sawmill.
These pieces are freshly sliced, which gives them the dark red, almost purple color in the center. This will fade to brown over time.
A note about size/measurement: the measurement listed is the approximate size (rounded down to next full inch) across the widest part of the slice. As these are not completely round, it may be less wide at another part of the piece. Please convo me with any questions. As you can see from the photos, these are "imperfectly perfect" - cedar trees can grow in some unusual shapes and are rarely perfectly round. Each is unique, but as beautiful as these shown. This is a completely natural wood product. You will find some saw dust residue on them, the bark will flake and/or peel somewhat. There may be some areas where the bark is completely gone. The surface may also lightly crack as it dries out.
It also smells like cedar. Some very brave bugs may also make their way to you (although this has never been reported). Just want you to know. This item is made of cedar.
The style is woodland and rustic.
